Traveling has afforded us the opportunity to randomly meet some of the most wonderful people.

Sis, Andrea, Mike and Frederico

As part of our group during the Inca trail we got to know Federico as a friendly acquaintance. However, luckily for us, we were also blessed to share Federico’s return flight home from Lima to Buenos Aires. And that is how we found ourselves on a day tour of the city with only 3 hours of sleep and a 12 hour layover.

Acquaintances quickly become friends when you are invited into their home and served breakfast by their family. This was just the first stop on our city wide tour. Additional stops included; Obelisk, on to the "little broadway" avenue Corrientes, the "widest avenue of the world", as we (Argentineans) call it, 9 de Julio.

Then we went to "Plaza de Mayo", where we saw the Pink house (their President works there – but does not live their like our President in the White House), the cathedral, and the Cabildo (where the Independence Statement was signed).

Houses on Caminito

After the Plaza de Mayo we went to La Boca, more specifically to "Caminito", a street named after a popular tango song, which is colorfully remembered in our minds for the painted houses. For more information on this interesting portion of Buenos Aires click here.

AND FINALLY we went to Recoleta, where we saw the fancy cemetery (which is where Evita is buried in addition to numerous other famous people). And then out to lunch with Federico’s parents and sister to sample the country’s internationally famed steaks.
