Egypt (and a brief jaunt to Jordan):
Time: Oct. 27 – Nov 11 (~18days) (overland to Israel)
It seems like everyone’s first thought of Egypt is the pyramids (one of the 7 ancient wonders of the world).  But don’t forget about:

  1. Luxor ( An “open air museum” of ancient temples, tombs, and timeless relics)
  2. Nile River ( our plan is to take a felucca –kind of like a slow sail boat, UP the river),
  3. Red Sea (world class diving)
  4. Mt. Sinai (where Moses received the 10 commandments and we intend desert hikes)
  5. Cairo (country’s capital with a phenomenal museum and opportunities to further refine our haggling skills at the markets)
  6. Abu Simbel (Ramses II’s Temple – which has been argued as one of the overlooked ancient wonders of the world).

And  no trip to the region would be complete without a border crossing into Jordan to see the grandeur of Petra (an ancient city hewn from multicolored sandstone. Imposing temples, palaces, tombs and storerooms can still be identified).  No wonder Egypt is such a hot spot for vacationers.
