Indian Santa Claus in Dehli

Despite a desperate search to find a Christmas church service in Delhi, my attempts failed bitterly and we decided it best to cope by ignoring the festivities that we were missing back home. So Christmas was spent shopping for spices and books, with the occasional Santa or red, stocking capped head reminding us of the days significance.

A couple more shopping trips, a trip to the post office (sending over 40 lbs of souvenirs home), a visit to the International toilet museum, and a stop at the Ghandi memorial was how we challenged our health with ventures into this amazingly, air polluted city. For an objective measurement of air pollution we refer to how many hours it takes to inhale enough air to create black boogers - here only about 5 hours. Overall, Delhi for us was the most intense place of being next to poverty and streets overwhelmed with homeless.

On the 28 we take off and venture towards Mizoram and the start of our 6wk volunteer experience in this remote region of India. So remote in fact that many Indians don't even know where it is, despite their knowledge of more international geography such as European countries or states/cities in the USA.
