Hello Dear Family,

So we have now spent 24 hours in Peru and we are still alive with no bouts of diarrhea! Our couch surfing host picked us up at the airport and it has been a sad realization at how bad our Spanish is (practicing lots). Last night there were 2 other couch surfers at the apartment as well, a guy from Venezuela and a girl from Columbia - both really great people.

Alpaca Hats!

Today, one of our couch surfing hosts took us around Lima. Visited Cathedral de Lima and museo de Oro, in addition to walking past the president´s palace. The city centre is beautiful but the rest of the city is tons of people. No way could we get around this massive place without the help of Feliz and Joel.

The exchange rate has been good to us and we were able to treat our hosts to dinner two days in a row and only spend about ten dollars por todo (for everything!). We also just went to the market and splurged on alpaca hats for a grand total of six dollars for two!

Tomorrow we hope to catch a bus and head south to Pisco, which is the jumping point to tour ¨Poor man´s Galapogos¨. This will also test our ability to become more independent with traveling as we will be staying in hostels.

We love you and are thinking of you. Pictures are to be sent later - not too many interesting ones yet.

Love,

Andrea and Mike
