Visiting more sites and soaking in the amazing South African hospitality. During our time in Cape Town we continued to couch surf with Pravayna, Kapil, and Chivany. Not only enjoying their hospitality, we also enjoyed their company while dining at local restaurants, playing Play station 3 (Mike), and attending Pravayna’s company potjie cook-off (a potjie is a small black iron pt heated by coals).
We were also blessed by Kyle’s willingness to show us his favorite stops in this amazing city in a quick afternoon city tour. Kyle is a South African guy that we had met at the Buenos Aires airport during a rather adrenaline filled check in process due to HUGE lines, long waits, and BIG questions as to whether we would actually make our flight. Kyle had kindly let us skip in line while waiting for security.
During these 2 days stops included; a hike up to Lion’s head (where Mike displays is ability to overcome a fear of heights as we boulder / climb our way to the top), District 6 Museum (In remembrance of the effects of Apartheid this museum was built over the remains of a neighborhood cleared due to rezoning the land from coloreds to whites only), Camps bay, Llandudno and Sandy Bay, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and other niches around the city.
